I Too Have Fought For CHANGE

My surname ain’t Obama
But I too have fought for change
Been the villain in a five-minute drama
A physical role which for me was strange

It was at the end of a bus ride
From Mile One to the old town
I got my money on the upside
And lost my temper on the down

The fare was hiked to fourty naira
I grudgingly gave a 50 note
This was 2 minutes before the conductor
Felt my strong arm grip his throat

Gi' me my 10 card im no gree
The small boy been dey waste my time
I don see im whole strategy
No be me im go use take shine

I haven’t told this tale to my mama
I have a feeling it’d make her ashamed
But even though my name isn’t Obama
I too have fought for change

Change is change whether N10 or to change the world, na the same thing.

Except that while one qualifies you for presidency the other qualifies you to be cheapskate guy who may have chopped slap if conductor was high enuff.

yes o, we all at one point or the other have fought for change. Who determines what should make waves anyway if not the individual.

Make Obama let us hear word, people are still fighting for change.

Beautiful rhetoric

the fight for change, LOL haven't we all...just like Obama...once i held unto the cash for the conductor to gimme complete change first, he refused, got to school gate & was about to jab his throat when 2 of my sister's friends annoyingly came & gave him money.

@afrobabe, we used to practice our martial arts on stubborn conductors back in them days, for change or not

Baroque said...

Okay, I see the connection between this 4th July weekend and me leaving comments on folks blogs. I think it's the extra day off. Pardon me for being anonymous...I'm not a member. I stumbled into your website (blog) thru http://www.verastic.com/.... and of course I stumbled into hers;(I believe is a she). I know you're wondering how I stumbled into hers? It's a long story but just FYI, I was on the internet for too long, my mouse kept clicking and I kept reading news, blogs etc :-)

I have to be honest...I didn't just stumble into yours. I was glancing thru her faves just because, no reason why. And your link got my attention. Why? It reads "Porter deHarqourt" which is close to the spelling of Port Harcourt....

Yeah, I know the reply to my last comment should be "duh...."
